Could it be? End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Setup for this snippet: Cecilia finds a stranger in the house who looks a lot like her father. Only he's been dead for twenty-three years...

Now for the snippet...

***The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited.

He took a step toward her again, but her words made him pause. "You tripped the silent alarm when you broke in here and the police are already on their way," she threatened even though it was a complete and utter lie.

"I know this has gotta be freakin' you out," he said with his palms up as if he were surrendering to her.

"Breaking into someone's house will do that to a person."

"CeeCee, think about this for a moment. I didn't break in."

She narrowed her eyes and her heart began to race all over again.

"You know who I am," he continued.

She shook her head even though she knew what his next words were going to be.

"I'm your father."

Well that would be a shock. However, will she believe his claim?

Blurb:

Lars Gunner, the frontman for Silent Plaids, died 23 years ago and is trapped in limbo until his daughter, Cecilia, unearths his journal and is able to see him. His death was ruled an unfortunate accident, but he's convinced it had to be murder despite the fact he can't recall what happened in his last moments of life. Cecilia seeks the help from Kaleb, a psychic, but as they resurrect the past, the secrets and lies surrounding Lar's rock and roll life just may be the death of them too.

  1. It would be very hard to accept, for sure. I can’t wait to see how he goes about persuading her and then what happens next. Really a fascinating story!

  2. Am I the only one having a Darth Vader moment here?

On a more serious note, I wonder what it’s going to take for her to believe him.

  3. Now she knows how Luke Skywalker felt! At least he’ll have a chance to redeem himself without taking off anyone’s hand (one hopes). Nice climactic scene, Karen.

  4. Nancy beat me to it. That last sentence made me think “Luke, I…am your father.” Will she believe him? I wouldn’t. Can’t wait to see how he convinces her.
