Don’t open the door!… Flowers and Fangs @RebeccaJVickery @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Lad's ears perked up and a low growl vibrated from the back of his throat. Her gaze landed on her lab with a frown. Lad usually loved everyone, and she wondered who could be at her front door that had him agitated? She strode over to it and peeked out the peephole, half expecting Freddy Kruger to be standing there by the way Lad's fur stood up on end, and the snarl he produced to go along with his bad fur day. She sighed in relief when she recognized her visitor. She threw opened the door with a smile.

Lad came bounding to the door, snarling in rapid barks. She'd never seen him act like that—ever. "Lad, sit. It's only Tim."

You're probably shouting, "Sloane, close the door!" Unfortunately, I don't think she will. Come by next week to find out.

  1. Oh noes, the poor dog is doing his best to warn her! Enjoyed the excerpt, loved the part about the dog’s fur…this story has some really nice twists and turns.

  2. Animals are so intuitive, methinks she should have paid more attention to her pup’s warnings. Will look forward to reading next week to find out what happens. (Although I wonder if her under-the-weather condition will work to her advantage?)

  3. Oh shit this is going to get bad quick! But yes, always, ALWAYS trust your pets, they have instincts we don’t. So yes, I am definitely yelling “close the door!”
