This week's snippet is from Flowers and Fangs.
We're jumping ahead quite a few paragraphs from last week...
Derek and Wade Hayes are at McBride's house investigating if Tim infected his girlfriend. They find a dog there, but otherwise no one is home. The brothers decide to split up. Wade is going back to Tim's house to see if he shows up there, and Wade will watch for Sloane's return at the McBrides' residence.
This is in Derek's POV. Wade just stated that Tim and Sloane could show up here. Derek is speaking first.

"Maybe, but I see no struggle or blood, and the family dog didn't appear agitated. There's a good chance Sloane is only infected and hasn't fully changed yet." When a woman looked like Sloane McBride, a boyfriend wasn't going to just look at her. He would bet his best dagger, Tim Wilkins had nibbled on her neck sometime in the last few days.
"I'll call you if Tim shows," Wade said with a long sigh as he headed for the door.
Derek stared at the photo of Sloane, who stared back at him with such life. She was happy, but so were Tim and Trent and he knew that didn't help them in the least. His gaze shifted to the laptop with the calendar marked with Valentine's dinner with Tim. She probably hadn't planned on flowers and fangs. He placed the photo where it belonged and headed out of the house, turning off lights and locking up.

Don’t think they have much of a choice. They need to find Tim and Sloane before they infect anyone else. Wade won’t be alone at Tim’s place. Axel (there other brother) is there now.
Perhaps, Derek wants to be alone when he confronts Sloane… Just a thought.
Sounds like a romantic dinner is about to be rudely interrupted!

Not sure how romantic it will be if fangs are included. lol
Love the contrast between the past happiness in the photo and the current situation. Now what will he do when he finds her? All kinds of questions raised here.
Not my idea of a great Valentine’s dinner either. Poor Sloane. Hope they find her soon. Great snippet!
Aww, Sloane’s getting to me and we haven’t even met her yet! I hope there’s some happy outcome possibilities here…enjoying the story. I really like the brothers! Great snippet.
I just can’t imagine who this can have a good ending. Makes me wonder how you’ll twist it around. 🙂 It was neat seeing where the name of the book came from!

Wow, love this line “Valentine’s dinner with Tim. She probably hadn’t planned on flowers and fangs.” Not exactly a Hallmark card.
I really want to meet Sloan… Find out why he never got over her.
I gotta agree that splitting up can prove a dangerous operation… Is there a way to save her if she’s just infected and not fully turned yet? If not, I see this turning into one heartbreaking kill for Derek.
I wonder what is going to happen to her. Somehow, Derek seems a bit interested.
