Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new 'rock star romance' that I'm working on. It's in the very early stages.
Last week: Maverick was having a difficult keeping his attraction in check. Katie helped him out. 🙂
Rowan's POV.

Rowan enjoyed Katie's company as they carved the pumpkins that were placed at the end of the bar with their macabre smiles looking out over the crowd of people sipping their tea and coffees. She didn't have many friends, and she appreciated the way Katie and Maverick took her in as if they'd known her for years. Yes, she was an employee, but there was something more too. They genuinely cared about people, and they welcomed her into their close-knit work family with open arms, which made this whole situation so awful. She hated lying to them even though her being here wasn't all an untruth. She needed this job, and she had been the manager of a theater but not precisely what Maverick believed. She glanced at the man in question who stood behind the mahogany bar and chatted with a customer. Everyone fluffed their resume to make them look good, didn't they? Was it really her fault he hadn't checked out her credentials as thoroughly as he should have?
He glanced at her with an easy smile that made his rugged features appear almost boyish.

About Heart and Soul...
80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31 1988 and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn't be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have came back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?

Ooh, I love the way the mystery has deepened in regard to Rowan, great way of increasing the tension!
