Welcome to Snippet Sunday. This is another snippet from Magic of the Loch. Today's snippet is a couple of sentences later from last week.

If you missed last weeks snippet, here's the link: Chapter 5 #23

The Wild Rose Press
Kindle
NOOK

Set up: This takes place a few sentences later than last weeks snippet. Alan has just offered to walk Michaela back to the cottage where she's staying. Michaela isn't sure of his intentions...

***Note: The snippet has been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. Yes again there is some fancy punctuations and some long sentences. lol :)

Alan proved a smooth talker with his claims he wanted to find a soul mate, while warning her about his brother being the player. Alan’s touch set off a longing inside of her, but she couldn’t allow herself the luxury of an affair for numerous reasons. She leaned back and met his gaze. The dark heat there told her he wanted more than a kiss, but brief dalliances weren’t her style and she had no intentions of changing her moral standards now. “I don’t think—”

He placed a finger over her mouth, silencing her words. “I’ll just make sure ye arrive back safe an no more. I’m a patient man. We’ll take this at yer pace.”

*******************************************************************************

I don't think Alan isn't going away anytime soon. So do you believe his patience is a virtue that will soon win Michaela's heart? 🙂

Like always thanks so much for stopping by. I would love to know what you thought of the snippet.

If you're interested here's a blurb for Magic of the Loch:

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.

Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.

Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he's threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it's too late.

  1. I realize that this is just one excerpt, but will readers get to hear some, no a lot, of Alan’s smooth talking?
    Nice 8!

  2. I can see how Alan could seem like a player himself, if a slightly grumpy one! 😀

Her pace . . . that line is so layered, considering her circumstances.

  3. He sounds convincing, but can she trust him? Reading the blurb makes me wonder how far along the snippet is set…does she know his true nature by this point or is he still a mystery?
