Can’t escape your past…End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

This story is a WIP. The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited. We're jumping ahead a few paragraphs.

**********************************************************************************************************************

"Come here, darlin'," she heard her father say in a gentle tone, making her pause, making her wonder who he was talking to in that sweet voice despite the deep timber of it, but at the same time, she did know. Then the blonde haired toddler, clothed in pink and yellow flower pajamas, waddled into view with her hands outstretched toward him. It was her younger self, wanting her father to hold her. He put down the microphone he'd been gripping on top of the road box–the same one that sat next to the desk in the present–and sank down on his haunches. As he gathered her into his arms and stood, his face lit up and she'd be hard pressed not to see how much he loved her.

"Give your daddy a kiss goodnight, CeeCee," she heard a woman's voice say, but she stood just out of the screen's shot, but she knew it to be her mother's voice. Cecilia had long outgrown the nickname, CeeCee–dubbed by her father–and no one called her by that name anymore.

Her younger self gave her father a slobbery kiss with a big noisy sound to go with it. Her father chuckled and kissed her cheek with the same over exaggerated sound to go with the kiss. "Love you, sweet thing," he told her younger self.

**********************************************************************************************************************

Nothing like memories coming back to haunt you. lol

Loved to hear your feedback. 🙂

Unofficial Blurb for End of the Road

Lars Gunner, the frontman for Silent Plaids, died 23 years ago and is trapped in limbo until his daughter, Cecilia, unearths his journal and is able to see him. His death was ruled an unfortunate accident, but he's convinced it had to be murder despite the fact he can't recall what happened in his last moments of life. Cecilia seeks the help from Kaleb, a psychic, but as they resurrect the past, the secrets and lies surrounding Lar's rock and roll life just may be the death of them too.

Ghost dad chats… End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

This story is a WIP. The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited. Did a few creative punctuation to end at a good spot. 🙂

**********************************************************************************************************************

"Come on, Mom, you're tired," she said as she strode over to her mother and put an arm around her shoulder. "I was only three years old. Obviously, I had a vivid imagination."

Only five-foot-five in her bare feet, Cecilia towered her mother by four inches and that wasn't counting the boots she wore with the two-inch heels. Her mother raised her chin to peer at her. "It's why I locked you out of here," her mother told her and rested her hand on her arm. "You kept talking to him."

A cold chill brushed the back of her neck, but she managed to keep her voice calm. "It's okay, Mom," she said and ushered her toward the door, but at the archway, she couldn't help but glance over her shoulder at the roadie box half expecting Lars Gunner to be sitting on top of it. Of course, no ghost dad was to be seen.

**********************************************************************************************************************

So was she really chatting it up with her dear ole ghost dad?

Loved to hear your feedback. 🙂

Pity party for one… End of the Road @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

About this snippet: Chapter One (Don't Fear) The Reaper Snippet 6.  Last week snippet is here.

Cecilia's mother is watching a film of her dead husband's band rehearsal, but Cecilia turns off the projector, making her mother acknowledge she is there.

This story is a WIP. The story is in the very early stages and has not been edited.

**********************************************************************************************************************

Cecilia moved around the couch and took a seat next to her mother. She reached for the bottle but her mother moved it out of her reach. "I think you've had enough," Cecilia told her gently.

"I'll say when I have," Phoebe hissed and her features hardened and her bloodshot eyes didn't quite focus on her as she sneered.

She tried a different approach. "I've been phoning you and it's been three days, Mom" she added for meaning.

Her mother's brows puckered together. "Three days?" she repeated her words with a shaky voice, losing some of its hostility.

She nodded and her mother lowered her hand then finally handed her the bottle. She placed it on the coffee table to join the other bottles her mother had indulged in while she had her pity party with her dead father.

Meet the Band… Two Worlds Collided Two Worlds Collided #8sunday #snippetsunday

two-worlds-collided_newlook3Welcome to Snippet Sunday! This is a snippet from Two Worlds Collided.

LOOKING FOR last week's SNIPPET from Chapter One: Snippet #11

Now for Chapter Two - Body Language

Evie made it back in time to 1997, accepted the job to be Bellamy's assistant, and is at the hotel to meet the band. If you'll recall from a previous snippet, it is mentioned that her brother Bryce and Clark are friends. Clark moved away the first year of High school so hasn't seen Evie since then. Because of her frizzy unruly hair, Clark gave her the name, Cha-cha-cha Chia.

We're skipping ahead a few paragraphs into the chapter. (A few creative spots here to make the 10 sentence limit)

*****************************************************************************************************************

Leon Green

The band consisted of Leon Green, five-foot-eight, stockier built than his brother, Maury Green, who stood a few inches taller. Both were blondes and both had big, light-brown eyes, though Maury had a dimple in his right cheek that winked when he smiled. Maury was the drummer and vocals. Leon was vocals, played the keyboards, percussions, and co-wrote most of the songs along with Bellamy Lovel.

T.C. Worth_Civilized HeathensT.C. Worth had red hair that he dyed black, baby blue eyes and freckles that no amount of stage make-up would ever cover. He was the bass player and backup vocals.

Clark Barrymore, the tallest of the band, stood five-eleven with natural dark brown hair and even darker eyes. He played the rhythm guitar, saxophone, and was the backing vocals. She knew it was too much to hope Clark would keep it quiet that he knew her. "Cha-cha-cha Chia, my how you've grown," he voiced as he stood back to give her a once over, making her really want to smack the grin off his face.

*****************************************************************************************************************

Clark's nickname probably isn't something she'd like others to know, especially since she's trying to make a good impression as a responsible woman hired to be Bellamy's assistant. lol  Do any of you have a nickname ? 🙂 Any nickname you detested?

Blurb for Two Worlds Collided:

Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel's path of destruction. She's smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy's smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he's destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.

Bellamy isn't keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.

Sometimes, you just don’t know a person… Flowers and Fangs @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

Flowers and Fangs_KMN_mediumWelcome to Snippet Sunday.

Enjoy a snippet from last week: Flowers and Fangs Chapter 3 #6

This week's snippet is another snippet from Flowers and Fangs.

Chapter 3. Tim attacked Sloane and was about to sink his fangs into her neck, when Derek arrives with his crossbow, and demands Tim to leave her alone.

Skipping ahead to Chapter 4-- Tim pushes Sloane away from him as he whirls on Derek...

This is in Derek's POV.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 10 sentence limit.:)

********************************************************************

He let the arrow fly, but it went wild as Tim plowed into him, sending him flying into the wall. The arrow slammed into the cupboard door above Sloane's head and she screamed again. He really wished she wouldn't do that.

He lost his grip on the crossbow from the tackle and it slid over the tile floor, bouncing off one of the kitchen table's legs. Tim slammed him against the wall again. The picture hanging above him fell to the ground and glass rained around him like sharp razor blades.

Tim proved unnaturally strong even for a newbie. He must have fed not long ago, but thank God for small favors, he was still getting use to his new supercharged limbs that had grown in size. All vampires—originals and hybrids went through a growth spurt where they grew taller and more muscular, and of course the hybrids got spanking new set of fangs just like their creators, but unfortunately, the hybrids also lost their sense of right and wrong.

"Stop it, Tim!" Sloane yelled. She obviously had not grasped that the Tim she knew no longer existed.

*********************************************************************************

Somehow, I don't think Tim is going to listen.

Going to lurk around all night like a peeping Tom?… Flowers and Fangs @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday

********************************************************************

Derek relinquished the gift from his hand and he patted the dog's head. "Good boy." The dog crunched the treat with enthusiasm then trotted behind him as he peeked inside the back windows of the house. He didn't detect any movement within the bedroom.

The creaking of hinges had him swinging around with the crossbow aimed at the back door. When he caught sight of his brother's cowboy hat, he lowered the weapon with a curse.

His brother spotted him and his face split into a grin. "Well, are you going to lurk around all night like a peeping Tom or are you coming inside?"

He shook his head and strode toward him with long strides. "I could have shot you, dim wad."

*********************************************************************************

Good thing Derek doesn't shoot first and ask questions later. lol

Snippet Sunday: Confusion Proves Catchy…The Gryphon and His Thief @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday

Snippet Sunday Sit back RelaxWelcome to Snippet Sunday. I thought I'd change it up a little this week. I have a new release! So this is a snippet from The Gryphon and His Thief.

If you missed the last weeks snippet from The Gryphon & His Thief, here's the link. Chapter 3 #1 :)

Set up: We're jumping a few paragraphs from last week. Calli awakes to find Darrien in her room and she demands to know who he is and why he's in her room. Darrien believes Calli is his wife reincarnated and he has another chance to keep her safe. Only he's confused why she doesn't recognize him.

*The excerpt was modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. There are a few long sentences. :)

***********************************************************

"Callista, we must talk," he said. "I am not sure—"

"Who's Callista?" she questioned, interrupting him before he took this further.

"You don't remember me, do you?" he asked. She could see a battle going on inside of him as if he couldn't comprehend why she didn't know him.

Yeah, confusion seemed to be catchy tonight. "For your information, crazier-than-the-mad-hatter-on-a-good-day, my name is Calli. So you have the wrong girl if you think I'm this Callista chick."

***********************************************************

Wrong girl? Darrien doesn't believe so. How will he convince her when she thinks he's a nutter?  :)

Centuries have passed, but when he encounters a thief, who uncannily resembles his dead wife, he is convinced he has a second chance.

Calli Angelis is hired to steal Hecate's Stone from the Museum, believing she would be returning it to its rightful owner. Snippet Sunday: Choose your weapon…The Gryphon and His Thief @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday

Chapter 2 # 9 :)

Set up: This week we're jumping ahead to a few paragraphs down from the beginning of Chapter 3. So here's a quick update.

Darrien is cursed and must keep the artifacts in the museum safe at all costs, but his heart tells him his duty is to protect Calli, the thief who has stolen the Hectate stone from the museum. Duty or heart has him torn on what to do.

The snippet below is in Calli's POV. She's awake with a horrendous headache to find the man/Gryphon in her motel room. He tells her she's safe, but it in no means puts her at ease.

*The excerpt was modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. There are a few long sentences. 🙂

***********************************************************

Scrambling off the bed, she went for her dagger that should have been strapped to her belt and realized too late she'd lost it when she threw it at the Gryphon, who had tried to eat her for a snack. She blinked—hard, and yep, that statement—though said to herself—definitely sounded like she lost her marbles, and the way her head pounded like jackhammers had taken up residence in her brain, she was convinced the statement held merit.

She may not have her dagger, but she'd been trained to improvise. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the phone sitting on the nightstand, black, push button and heavy. She grabbed it with the receiver in one hand and the base in the other and said, "Who are you and what are you doing in my room? Answer quick or I'm going to go all Nicky Santoro on your head." She'd seen Casino and the phone treatment. Yep, considerable damage could be inflicted with a phone, so she gripped the receiver and shook it in his direction for emphasis on her threat.

***********************************************************

Calli will go down fighting if necessary. Darrien better talk fast and he better have a darn good story to convince her not to plow him in the head.  :)

**The Gryphon and His Thief is up for Best Young Adult/New Adult novel at P&E. if you have a chance, sure would love your vote!! http://critters.org/predpoll/novelyoungadult.shtml
