Six Sentence Sunday: The Spirit of Love #4

It's Six Sentence Sunday and This is the 4th snippet from The Spirit of Love.

Quick update: Brynna and Travis lost their son due to a tragic accident. Instead of turning to each other they drifted apart. However, they own a Ghost Hunting business and they were scheduled for a night at the Queen Mary. This is the first time they have seen each other in months.

****************************************************************************************************

“Is it . . . too late for us, Travis?”

“I don’t want to believe it is, but . . .”

His hesitation put her on edge.

“Brynna, what I’m going to ask you will sound strange, so bear with me for a moment.”

“Okay,” she answered, slowly.

“Why do you think spirits linger?”

  1. Oh, Karen! I can feel their heartbreak and hesitancy in every word. I’m adding this one to the TBR pile ASAP.

As for ghosts? Absolutely. I have to admit I crack up when I watch Ghosthunters on SyFy, though. I’ve had several encounters and one house we lived it was ghost central–literally. I swear the upstairs staircase landing was a “stop” on the paranormal train.

    1. Thanks so much, Silver!

I’ve had my share of ghost encounters, too. 🙂 I love hearing about ghost stories from others.
The Queen Mary in Long Beach is a real place. Though I’ve never experienced a ghost encounter there, I do enjoy visiting the old ship!

  2. Great snippet – I’m going to have to read the rest of that story.
Ghosts? Of course I believe – I’ve been able to see and communicate with them since I was a young child.

  3. This snippet had depth.I want this couple to find their HEA!

I had two ghost encounters in college, actually think it was the same ghost. Brief visual of a man in dark fifties style overcoat and hat, might have been the land ladies husband. Scared me but looking back don’t think it meant harm. I think he was being fatherly.

    1. Hi Melisse,
I’m glad you enjoyed the snippet. 🙂 HEA– They need to work on it. 🙂

Man in a dark suit– eerie. I believe most of spirits aren’t there to harm anyone, but they do give us a scare, don’t they?
      Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  4. I have got to read this book! I love the ones with deep emotion. It takes a great writer to bring that out.
And yes, I believe. I get occasional visits, but my husband is like a magnet for spirits. Has been since he was a baby.

    1. Hi Sandra,

My husband and our friends like to take ghost tours. We need you and your husband to tag alone for real ghostly experience. 🙂 Thanks so much for coming by and your interest in The Spirit of Love.

  5. This tugs at the heartstrings. I wonder if he’s thinking of his child? Sooo sad and beautiful. And I know I’m late, but I absolutely believe in ghosts. :c)

    1. They are both thinking of the child they lost, and for the love they had for each other. They didn’t turn to each other when the tragedy struck, but now they may have a second chance. Thanks Sarah for coming by.:)
