It's Six Sentence Sunday! This is the 2nd tidbit from my WIP, Twilight's Eternal Embrace. (vampire/historical/upper YA).
Blurb: Adryanna, a Lathe Sith, mourns the death of her recently mated sister, but she finds solace in the most unlikely place—in the arms of Bram, an Oiche Sith. She should fear him, loathe his existence, but instead she longs for their twilight embraces. Bram admires Adryanna’s strength and wishes only to protect her, even if it’s from him.
If Bram cannot find a way for Adryanna to survive the blooding ritual the romance is doomed. They seek help from Sheerin, Bram’s cousin, who believes he’s found a way for the Lathe Sith to survive, but others in the Oiche Sith clan do not wish for them to succeed.

In this scene: Adryanna (human) has just found out her sister has died. Bram(vampire) convinces Adryanna to go with him even though it is forbidden for them to be together without permission from the elders. He brings her to cliffs that overlook the sea, a place special to him. He hopes to distract Adryanna from her grief and perhaps forge a friendship.
Here's the six: This is Bram speaking, but it is in Adryanna's POV.
“Twilight is beautiful and mysterious with the sky neither completely lit nor completely dark.” He had a beautiful voice meant for song and the deep resonance with a touch of roughness soothed her. His head tilted to the side as he regarded her quizzically. “Twilight is the melding of both day and night as if they could prove amicable for a few precious hours.” His hand touched her cheek and his thumb brushed away a tear. “Like you and I, perhaps?”

Beautifully written…loved the description of his voice.
Christine,
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed the sneak peek. 🙂
Twilight is such a loaded word nowadays, but that was a nice speech and a fun six to share, thanks! I enjoyed reading.
There are just words that are my favorites. Before all the hoopla with the Twilight books, I loved that word. This MS is an old story I pulled out and dusted off and finished. Yeah!! No sparkly vampires here. These are warriors.
Thanks for coming by. 🙂
Lovely six! He’s so poetic.
Carrie-Anne,
Bram may be a warrior, but he has a sweet side, too. I’m glad you like the sneak peek. 🙂
Beautifully written and described – I really like your hero and I’m pulling for them to succeed in their quest! Terrific snippet!
Thanks so much, Veronica.
Bram is a worthy hero.
Poetic six!

Nice metaphor.

Sarah,
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a peek. 🙂
He is charming. Glad you thought so, too.
I know I’m really late in getting around to reading this but I’m so glad I finally made it. Oh, Karen! This reminds of one of the scenes in the movie “Ladyhawke.” I love the symbolism and the way he expresses himself. I can almost hear his voice. Lovely work!
Silver,
Thanks so much for the lovely compliment. 🙂
