Six Sentence Sunday: Twilight’s Eternal Embrace #4

It's Six Sentence Sunday! This is the 4th tidbit from my WIP, Twilight's Eternal Embrace. (vampire/historical/upper YA).

In this scene: Bram fears for Adryanna's safety once he finds out his clan has been hiding their mistakes in the dungeon. The bloodlings that have died from blood loss, but have risen again are no longer human, but they are not entirely a vampire either. The blood lust rules their existence. Bram wants to scare Adryanna away from him and drags her down to the dungeon to see what her future will be if she stays with him. Death or Fiend...neither is promising.

Now the six:

“By all rights, you should leave this place and never return, but my sweet Adryanna, you prove not to be a coward. Do you not understand? I am not good for you,” he pleaded for her to open her eyes and witness the truth. “I will destroy you. I will destroy the tender compassion you hold in your heart, the light in your eyes will die, and all that makes me love you will cease to exist.”

“No, it will never happen.”

  1. Stubborn heroine! She’ll have him pacing the floor at midnight if she keeps this up. 😉 And I agree with Jess. His “old-world” language and cadence really adds to the Gothic feel. Superb snippet this week, Karen!

  2. Okay, Karen, you have to let me know when this one comes out. You made me cry. This is so…bittersweet. My heart is just crying for your hero. He just captured my heart. He’s saying all of that to save her life, and yet, by doing so, he’s proving why he’s a hero. Oh, that just makes me swoon. And I love that she says “no.” Because that tells me that he needs her, more than he realizes. Fantastic six, hon.

  3. She is bound and determined to prove him wrong. Exciting! Hey, I would love to participate in both of those Halloween Blog Hops. What do I need to do, sweetie?!
