Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch (Chapter Two #1) #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday

Good Morning Sunday Readers!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there. My dad passed away from bone cancer seven years ago. Seems like yesterday. Sure to miss his smile and hugs. Love ya, Dad. 🙂

Sooo...what's new with you? What are you reading?

5 stars to A Touch of Camelot by Delynn Royer:  The adventure and the sweet romance will sweep you off your feet. A must read.

I'm reading Terry Spear's Taming the Wild Highlander. I've read this series from the beginning and have enjoyed all the highlander Medieval romances. This is Angus MacNeill's tale.

Now for Snippet Sunday. This is another snippet from Magic of the Loch. Today's snippet is a couple of paragraphs later from last week. Click here to read last weeks snippet, Chapter One #8. In Chapter One Michaela meets Alan and Hyatt for the first time, and it is in Michaela's POV. This week is Chapter 2 #1 Alan's POV.

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.

Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.

Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.

Set up for the scene: Michaela has agreed to let Alan and Hyatt give her a tour of the loch. Alan is not pleased with Hyatt's flirting and he's not thrilled with the way he responded to meeting Michaela. These are his thoughts...

Now for the snippet:

Who does Mrs. O'Malley think she is, sendin’ a woman to them as if they needed to be bothered? He should tell the Yank to go back where she came from, putting a stop to his brother’s flirting.

He would have done so from the start, but all coherent thoughts had left him the moment his hands touched the woman’s arms. Her scent struck him like an electric current, jolting him. Then his gaze shifted, focusing on her auburn hair streaked with gold strands, to her eyes the color of moss in the early morning, and finally centering on her wide and lush lips. Awareness filled his every pore and it took all his self-control to rein it in. His snappy retort had been harsh, but better he hurt her feelings than exploit her mouth for all its worth. If he’d lost control, she’d have willingly jumped into the loch to distance herself from him.

More of Alan's POV next week.

  1. You won’t know until you try, Alan! 😀

He’s going to be a tough Elvis-loving monster to crack, isn’t he? Should be a lot of fun!

    1. Sarah,

lol Nothing has fazed him the way Michaela’s touch has. Let him adjust to the knew feelings. It’s like being shocked awake after sleeping for centuries. I can see why he’s a wee bit rattled. lol

  2. Yes, please give us more Alan. Such an interesting character, he has no idea. Love it. 🙂

I just finished Ella Jade’s Surrender to Me <–yummy read and now I'm reading The P.U.R.E. by Claire Gillian it's very good.

  3. Love his strong reaction to her. I’m curious what’s behind it. Seems as if there’s a bit of magic in there and I’m wondering what it is about her that set him off. Terrific snippet!

  4. Something tells me Alan is going to be giving into these raw feelings eventually… I bet it’t a fun ride getting there (and after). Looking forward to me.
