Snippet Sunday: What was he thinking?… Soul Taker @KMNbooks @RebeccaJVickery #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday

Welcome to Snippet Sunday. This is a snippet from Soul Taker.

If you missed the last weeks snippet, here's the link. :) Chapter 1 #12

Set up:
Sanya has agreed to spy on the Soul Taker and keep tabs on him... or so Garran hopes. Harrison and Garran discuss if Sanya will remain loyal...

***********************************************************

Garran waited until the beautiful Latino sashayed out of sight. He found it difficult to believe he'd once thought the selfish beauty was his soul mate. He glanced at Harrison who stood there with a hand on his hip and shaking his head. "Don't say it, Harrison," he warned him.

"I don't have to. That woman will double cross you, to be sure."

"Aye, but she's the only one who has gotten close to the fiend who calls me kin. We need her to smoke him out so we can clean up the mess Franco didn't."

***********************************************************

What was Garran thinking? He thought Sanya was his soul mate? lol He may have been really...really...really... lonely to believe that. 🙂

No soul is safe…

A vampire from the Grim Sith sept is sucking the souls out of young women from the Boston area, but this sinister crime is far worse than a vampire seeking substance. He’s selling the souls to the highest bidder and it seems business is booming.
A vampire, a werewolf, and a Necromancer are a most unlikely team, but Garran, Harrison, and Isabella plan on putting a kink in the dubbed Soul Taker’s plans. It’s personal now. One of their friends has fallen victim to the Soul Taker’s charms, but to stop him from hurting anyone else, their efforts may involve raising the dead.

  1. SOULMATE?

    Sanya?!

    Whoa.

You’ve just opened up so many more possibilities, Karen. Because, what if, maybe, possibly, because the universe is a Very Strange Place . . . he’s right?

    Mind. Blown. (But gleeful!)

  2. “Sashayed?”
    Excellent choice of verbs.
I thought only Southern belles did that. Love the imagery.

Now, about that character telling the other dude how he wanted to use the woman.
In the long run, it might work out better, and add to the mystery, if readers discover the plan gradually rather than have it blurted out in advance.

  3. I like Garran. He’s savvy. 🙂

Another sleepy morning, Karen! I was up until the wee hours, reading Lost In the Mist of Time. I wish I had nothing else to do. 2/3 of the way through. Damned good story. 🙂

  4. shouldn’t it be “the beautiful LatinA” ? It got me a bit confused because I thought Latino would be a man, but the rest of the snippet is fantastic, well done!

    1. EE,
Regarding Latino: I was told it was acceptable to use Latino when referring to a female since English nouns do not have gender. The Spanish rules governing adjective-noun agreement aren’t used for English usage. 🙂 But thanks for asking. 🙂

  5. I’m really enjoying this story. I was a bit thrown at the start of the snippet by the word “Latino” (instead of “Latina”) but a bit of Googling says it’s okay.

I love that Garran expects her to betray him.
