Snippet:

He should have listened to Eastyn and waited, but no. Before he left, he got on one knee, proposed, and pledged he would be back for a fall wedding. There's nothing worthy about broken promises etched in tears.

He stopped what he was doing and took in the shop's décor of pink and turquoise, down to the leather seats and stools at the counter, giving the 50s style soda shop its charm. Luckily, his stupidity didn't stop her from making her dreams a reality and opening the restaurant.

He caught sight of the jukebox in the corner which matched the color scheme to perfection. He thought he heard a record playing a few minutes ago but now it stood quiet. He glanced toward the doorway of the kitchen where Eastyn worked preparing her pastries or whatever she planned for the day. He wished she peek out just so he could see her face again. He hadn't laid eyes on her for five years before today, but when he had, his heart slammed into his chest as if he'd suddenly been jolted awake.
