This is a time travel tale where an obsessed fan has a chance to save her beloved rock star from ending his life. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll are a cocktail that is neither glamorous nor pretty for rock star, Bellamy Lovel, but in the dark of night when the shadows threaten to consume him, he finds the one shining light that may guide him home.

LOOKING FOR last week's SNIPPET: Snippet #7

Now for Chapter One, #8 snippet: Los Angeles, 2007Β  Disappear

Evie traveled back in time to 1997 just moments before her brother is supposed to call and offer her the job to be Bellamy's personal assistant or rather babysitter.... This is in Evie's POV. We've jumped ahead a few paragraphs.

*****************************************************************************************************************

If she truly traveled back in time to August 3, 1997, Bryce would call her in five minutes. She strode over to the front desk. She ignored the beeping sounds of monitors, the coughing and murmurs of conversations as she stared at the phone and willed it to ring. Her hand went to the necklace around her neck, startled that it wasn't the hippocampus. She glanced at it and realized what she had on. A medal of the archangel Michael with his sword held high as he fought to send the demon back to hell. Her grandmother had given it to her as a gift when she graduated from nursing school. "This is the patron saint for doctors, Nana," she'd told her. "You know I'm a nurse." Her grandmother just smiled and patted her arm.

*****************************************************************************************************************

Did her grandmother know something?

Blurb for Two Worlds Collided:

Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel's path of destruction. She's smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy's smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he's destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.

Bellamy isn't keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.

  1. I am sure that the medallion is doubly significant given her quest. Love this idea, Karen. Enjoying your snippets .

  2. I love it when there’s jewelry involved, nice twist and really makes me wonder what the significance will be. Great story, hope it gets selected for the Kindle Scout program. I did vote…

  3. Wait a minute. She was wearing a necklace of a part of the brain? How did I miss that? (And where can I get one? LOL) I do love that it’s a different necklace — and the significance of the one she’s wearing now.

    1. PT,
In 2007, she was holding the hippocampus necklace that had been Bellamy’s as part of the ritual. She assumed she would still have it when she arrived in the past. lol Remember, time travel is a new thing for her. Arriving in the past, she wouldn’t be wearing anything she had in ‘her’ present time, and she isn’t. πŸ™‚ This is now 1997. That hippocampus necklace is where she left it in 1997. She’ll remember that in the next paragraph. πŸ™‚

  4. It would be so weird to be stuck in a younger version of yourself, forced to revisit you fashion choices, friendships, etc. Here’s hoping that phone rings!

    1. Caitlin,
It would be weird. I look at some of the old 80s photos where my hair was permed and I wore bright colored outfits with shoulder pads. lol
I think Evie will be worried about other things though like if the phone will ring. lol

  5. I like her grandmother’s smile and the hint behind it. Great snippet.
And good luck with the kindle scout …

  6. Interesting foreshadowing. I’m always intrigued with the idea of going back to change the past. I like that her purpose is more selfless than selfish. Maybe? Heading over to vote now…

  7. Love the symbolism of the Michael pendant. I wonder if she’s going to get that phone call now.

Good luck with Kindle Scouts! Nominated from me. πŸ™‚
