“Maybe, but it’s not just about the money for me, and don’t underestimate a good cup of coffee.” He lifted his cup with a grin before he placed it down and leaned his elbows on the counter. “I wanted a place where music could be appreciated with keen senses. The specialty coffees and teas were just an added bonus,” he added as his gaze took in her every feature.
“I’m surprised you opened Heart and Soul as a coffeehouse to showcase the bands and not a bar,” she said as she admired yet another photo.
“I assure you, we aren’t breaking any rules,” he teased and winked with a smile when she turned to meet his gaze.
“The coffee’s good,” she told him.
He took a sip from his cup. “How did you sleep?” he asked over the rim of his mug. “It’s a new place and I know sometimes it can take getting used to.”
“I slept well,” she replied and placed her cup down on the bar. “How long have you owned this place?” she purposely changed the subject, but he didn’t question her.
