Keep in mind Heart and Soul is a WIP.
This is in Maverick’s POV.

“I’ve locked up everything back there,” Rowan said as she headed up front to the coffeehouse. “Is there anything else I could help with?”
“I was just about to ask you if you needed any help. We’re finished up here too.”
“Night, boss,” Ryan said. He’d cut his ginger-colored locks and colored the strands with black streaks.
“Good night,” he called back as his cook headed out the back door. He turned to Rowan. “I’ll walk you to your door if you’re heading upstairs.” He didn’t know if she had other plans for the night.
(This is the end of 10 sentences. for Weekend Warriors. Continue for Snippet Sunday 300 words or less, if you wish. :))
In his early twenties, he’d just be heading out to start his night. Some of the clubs didn’t get started until after ten. Maybe she was a night owl and the evening was still young for her.
“I’m beat,” she said on a sigh. “I’m calling it a night.”
He almost smiled but didn’t want to reveal how much her statement thrilled him. They headed for the stairs at the side of the building, and he wished he could prolong their walk, but living above the place you worked proved to hamper such things. He wanted to know Rowan better but a minute walk every night would take a lifetime to get to know someone. They hadn’t chatted much tonight at work, and the conversation they began earlier with Katie about ghosts had been interrupted, though the topic gave him an idea to pursue. “You weren’t freaked out earlier when we were talking about ghosts were you?”
“Not at all. The subject fascinates me.”
As they reached the top of the stairs and he glanced at her. “If you’re interested, there are unofficial ghost tours at the Moor Lake Water Park during October.”
“Unofficial tours?” she questioned with amusement lacing her words.

About Heart and Soul…

80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31 1988 and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn’t be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have came back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?
A water park has ghosts and ghost tours? This ought to be good.
I’d be game to go. π
Ghost tours make me nervous, though she might get some answers if she goes.
Jessica,
She just might.
Smooth move . . . and about time! I’m not sure (considering) a ghost tour is a goodromantic idea but it might get a lot of things started that he doesn’t plan on.
Nancy,
Ghost tour for a first date… if she’s scared, he could hold her close. π
It’s always some thing, good or bad. Hang onto your shorts, everyone.
Charmaine,
lol- We shall see.
Promising development indeed. Enjoyed the snippet…I was thrown off a little by the sentence about the cook’s hair LOL. Did he do that on the job or? Just seemed out of context but of course we’re missing all the rest of the narrative flow so don’t mind me…
Veronica,
lol- I’ll read the chapter and see if the haircut is a distraction. Thanks for the input. π
Ghost tour at a water park? Sign me up! He’s right, they’ve got to get past that 1 minute walk home every night.
Alex,
Yes, he does. I think he found his way.
I’d take a ghost tour at an abandon water park. π
I’d take the tour for sure!
Kate,
Let’s go! lol I wish there was such a place.
He’s piqued her interest – not bad for a first attempt to make a date.
Aurora,
He has his charms. π
He’s got her interest now. Good job. Ghost tours? That can be fun or creepy. I’ll bet you go for the latter. Nice snippet.
Diane,
Yep, ghost tours can be fun and you may be right that I’ll go with the creepy on this one. π
Unofficial would spike my interest as well π
