Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch (Chapter One #8) #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday

Good Morning Sunday Readers!

What's new with you?

On my way to and from work, I'm listening to the 'text to speech' version on my Kindle Fire HD of A Touch of Camelot by Delynn Royer. I'm almost finished with the book. This Wild West tale is so entertaining!  I love the banter between the hero and heroine. The kid brother adds to the fun. The adventure is a blast, and the sweet romance will sweep you off your feet. A must read. And where did I hear about this fantastic tale? Well from Snippet Sunday. I read the snippets and just had to know more. lol I'm ready to read the second book in the series.

Now for Snippet Sunday. This is another snippet from Magic of the Loch. Today's snippet is a couple of paragraphs later from last week. Click here to read last weeks snippet, Chapter One #7. In Chapter One Michaela meets Alan and Hyatt for the first time.

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.

Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.

Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.

Set up for the scene: Michaela decides to trust Hyatt and Alan. She tells Hyatt that she's renting a cottage from Mrs. O'Malley and the woman sent her in this directions to rent a boat. Hyatt is both surprised and pleased. Michaela just asked how much the boat trip around the loch will cost. She's worried a private tour will cost more than she can afford. (Michaela's POV)

Now for the snippet: “Dooncha know it's the second Tuesday of the month and tours are half the price to the first beautiful lassie we come across?” Hyatt offered his arm.

She knew he lied. His brother Alan looked like he would bust an artery by the way he clenched his teeth and how the little vein at his temple throbbed. She chose to ignore Alan and concentrated on the friendlier brother with the dark chestnut colored hair and blue-green eyes that sparkled when he smiled. “I’d be a fool to let an  opportunity like that slip by.” She took a step toward him and looped her arm through his.

“Aah, 'tis fate that brought ye to us, Michaela.”

**************************************************************************************************

Next week will be Alan's POV.

Like always I would love to know what you thought of the snippet. :)

  1. Hyatt is being way too friendly and Alan doesn’t seem to appreciate.
I like how Michaela described him and took that boat tour opportunity.

  2. I absolutely love your premise! I have a feeling that I’m not supposed to like Hyatt, but I do in this snippet. And, Hyatt’s last line is very intriguing!

  3. I have a feeling ’tis Fate indeed LOL. Enjoying the differing attitudes of the brothers, can’t wait to see how it plays out. Great snippet!

  4. Nooooo! She can’t fall for that line! She even knows it’s a lie and still falls for it? *sigh*

I guess if characters always made smart decisions, we wouldn’t have much of a story. 🙂

    Love your writing.

  5. Hyatt’s so charming, who could resist? But I have a feeling it’s Alan who will cause the romantic sparks to fly. 🙂 He’s not too happy with his brother at the moment, though. I’m looking forward to getting his POV next week! (P.S. I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying A Touch of Camelot!)

  6. hmm, as a new reader to your sneak peeks, i’d like a longer snippet to really give me a taste. but I will check back next week to see if you hook me…

  7. I love everything I’ve read about this book. The premise is the most original thing I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve read some beauty-and-beast matches before, but the loch ness monster? And all this time, I thought Nessie was a girl…

  8. Man Hyatt is laying it on thick. So is it that making Alan’s blood boil? Haven’t quite figured him out yet considering he is supposed to be looking for a mate right? Is he pissed at his brother butting in? Michaela is playing right along. Alan’s going to pop a vessel soon here! I’m enjoying this story, can you tell?
