Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch (Chapter One #7) #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday

Good Morning Sunday Readers!

What's new with you?

I finished listening to the audible version of The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodbury.
This is the second book of the trilogy, but the book stands alone and is a compelling story for fans of the series Walking Dead, or if you're simply a zombie fan. It's read by Fred Berman and he's fantastic at bringing these characters alive.

Tues. June 4th:  I'll be at the Western Fictioneers. So if you have the time, come by for a visit. I'll be chatting about cowboys and why we love them so much.

Now for Snippet Sunday. This is another snippet from Magic of the Loch. Today's snippet is continued from last week. Click here to read last weeks snippet, Chapter One #6. In Chapter One Michaela meets Alan and Hyatt for the first time.

Blurb:

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.

Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.

Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.

What have you missed?: Present day, Chapter One. The streets of Drumnadrochit were buzzing with the news of recent sightings of the Loch Ness Monster. Everyone wants to capture his or her own photo of the legendary creature.

Michaela was heading toward the boat tied off at the end of the pier when a German shepherd, that is chasing a cat, comes barreling toward her. Luckily for Michaela, Alan saves her from a falling into the loch. Alan and Michaela exchanged some heated words, leaving Michaela believing she doesn't care for her rescuer. Then Hyatt (Alan's brother) shows up to defuse the situation with humor, and to make the proper introductions (Sort of). She finds out a tidbit about Alan. He's an Elvis fan, and his pets actually listen to him when he demands they behave. lol

*Note: Snippet has been tweaked to fit the 8 sentence limit.

Set up: Hyatt notices Michaela has a camera with her and asks if she's here to rent a boat so she can catch a glimpse of Nessie. He offer's Alan's boat.

Now for the snippet:

Her gaze lingered on Alan’s intense scowl. He’d probably sooner toss her in the loch than drive her around it. Her body would never be discovered in its seemingly bottomless depths. She worried her lower lip, hating that she hesitated. You wanted to take a tour of the loch. Isn’t that why you’re here?

Hyatt's brows drew together in an agonized expression as if hurt by her uncertainty of him. “Doonae be afraid, Michaela.”

  1. She’s over thinking the matter and doesn’t even know it! This has been such a wonderful story to date and today’s excerpt is just as much fun!

    1. Veronica,
Yes, she is over thinking it, but again she is alone with two men, and one doesn’t seem to want her there. Can’t blame the gal for being cautious. lol

  2. There’s probably some heat beneath Alan’s winter, as Hyatt suggests. I’m looking forward to seeing how a romance starts between these two after all the initial tension.
