Setup for this snippet with a recap from last week: Cecilia is overwhelmed by the conversation she's been having with her father who has been dead for 23 years.
"Where are you going?" her father asked in disbelief.
"Home. I don't want to see you again. If there's one thing I do know: Growing up, I survived just fine without a father. So, I most certainly don't need a ghost dad now."
"CeeCee," he called after her, but she didn't turn around. She couldn't when her mind finally clicked into flight mode. Her only thought was escape. Not because she feared her father's ghost, but because she feared herself. She couldn't let him into her life. He was dead and the dead should remain that way no matter how much you wished they were by your side.
Lars Gunner, the frontman for Silent Plaids, died 23 years ago and his death was ruled an unfortunate accident. Despite the fact he can't recall what happened to him in his last moments of life, he is convinced he was murdered. He has been trapped in limbo until his daughter, Cecilia, unearths his journal and is able to see him. She seeks help from Kaleb, a psychic, but as they resurrect the past, the secrets and lies surrounding Lars' rock and roll life just may be the death of them too.

A hard realization but a good thought from her to end the snippet! Your heroine is so very sensible and has certainly delivered a few surprises in these excerpts, to us and to ghost Dad.

It isn’t easy, but right now she needs to process everything. Her emotions are on high and she needs to sort them out. Don’t worry, Ghost Dad isn’t going to let this small snag stop him from speaking to her again. 🙂

That’s such an emotional, raw snippet. Sometimes we have more complicated relationships with the dead than the living.

She’s seen how the ghost of his memory has trapped her mother, so I can’t blame her for running away!
