Dreams or memories? Heart and Soul #8sunday #snippetsunday

Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new 'rock star romance' that I'm working on. It's in the very early stages.

Rowan is asleep in her new apartment situated above the Heart and Soul, coffeehouse.

This is Rowan's POV.

***

Rowan tossed and turned in her sleep, but the dreams invaded her slumber without a care of how she would fare in the morning. She used to try to force them away, but now she welcomed them with hopes of learning more about the couple she was connected to in ways that would boggle the mind. It had taken her years to accept and embrace it even when others thought she'd lost all perspective on what was real and what was imagined.

In her dream, she was in a hotel room staring at her reflection in the mirror. The woman's face wasn't hers and yet she knew she stared at her own reflection as if this was a long ago memory... another life she'd once lived.

The other woman or rather she hummed as she arranged her hair in a fashionable style. She glanced to the side as she caught sight of a man striding into the room. He wore a silly grin. She knew this man loved her, loved her like no other man had ever cherished her.

About Heart and Soul...

80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31 1988 and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn't be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have came back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?

  1. That’s a very lucid dream. I’m wondering what she will do about it though. Is she really that stranger woman completely or is there still some part that are her and that she can’t let go of and some part of Haley that she can’t embrace? It’s a mind blowing situation.

  2. Lovely snippet – I love the way the past is coming to ‘haunt’ her now. (By the way, a little picky thing, but I think it should be ‘fare’ not ‘fair’ πŸ™‚ )

  3. That must be the oddest feeling on earth, to see someone in the mirror who doesn’t look like you, but know it’s you. I can see this is going to be a very unusual dream, even for a dream. πŸ™‚

  4. Right now, this dream seems pretty wonderful. But I fear it won’t stay that way.
