Swaying to the music… Heart and Soul #8sunday #snippetsunday

Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new 'rock star romance' that I'm working on. It's in the very early stages.

Rowan is dreaming about another life.

This is Rowan's POV.

***

She turned in his arms as he gathered her close for a kiss. Lord almighty, he knew how to kiss. She could feel it down to her toes and her stomach flip-flopped in response as a slow burn of desire curled through her, warming her from the inside out. She pressed closer loving the way he held her, enjoying the smooth demand of his mouth but tonight he didn't pursue more. He released her, and it took a moment more before she could breathe normally again.

"Haley Rose, you're the prettiest girl in the world," he told her as his hand brushed a curl behind her ear.

"You always say that," she said, but she still liked to hear him say so.

"Well, it's the truth." He swayed with her in his arms as if there was music in the background and she leaned her head against his chest and closed her eyes. She loved the musky scent of him mixed with peppermint gum.

About Heart and Soul...

80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31 1988 and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn't be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have came back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?

  1. A lovely scene with maybe a hint of disquiet underneath? Or am I reading too much into his not prolonging the kiss? Either way, we’ll find out because who could stop reading now? Excellent excerpt!

  2. Fascinating story; you’ve given this reader much to think of; a mysterious woman, romance, heat, and a puzzle of a woman who is so like a missing woman from years before. More, Karen, much more!!

  3. Very sweet. If he always means it when he says it, she’s quite lucky. And it sure seems like he means it. Now Rowan just has to find a love like that dream…
