Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new 'rock star romance' that I'm working on. It's in the very early stages.

Maverick glanced at her with one of his grins that made her heart skip a beat. She returned the smile but when she glanced away her grin faltered as she caught sight of an older gentleman at the end of the bar, staring at her. He was probably in his late sixties or perhaps older. Then she remembered him from last night. He'd been the one to open the door for her and told her the coffeehouse was closing. Even though he'd been polite the previous night, his intense stare unsettled her, but she couldn't tear her gaze away. The sounds of polite conversation around her seemed to fade in the distance as she watched the man cup his a mug and slowly lift it to his lips, never entirely taking his gaze off her as he indulged.
"Rowan?"
Maverick's voice snapped her back, and the normal sounds of the bar returned with the usual clanking of glasses, laughter and low murmurs of conversation. She tore her gaze away from the old man and quickly made her way over to Maverick.
