Snippet Sunday: Michaela’s past and her decision to live…@WildRosePress @KMNbooks #SpeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday

Welcome to Snippet Sunday. This is another snippet from Magic of the Loch. Today's snippet is a couple of sentences later from last week.

If you missed last weeks snippet, here's the link: Chapter 4 #2

Set up for the scene of Chapter 4 #3: Alan has joined Hyatt and Michaela for a friendly lunch and a game of darts. Alan's question to why she chose Scotland to visit makes her think back to her last conversation with her ex-boyfriend. She has brain aneurysm and Blake, her ex, wanted her to have an operation that most likely would not have ended well.

***Note: Snippet has been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. Lots of changes to make this work, but I wanted to give you a quick insight to Blake and why Michaela wasn't keen on revealing she has an inoperable brain aneurysm to Alan and Hyatt.

**************************************************************************************************

(Thinking back scene...)

“I’m talking about saving your life and you want to take a vacation,” Blake said and his voice rose in frustration.

“I want to go to Scotland." Her gaze locked onto his. “Come with me.”

Blake pulled away from her, shaking his head. “I won’t watch you throw your life away.”

“I’m not throwing it away. I’m living it.”

**************************************************************************************************
A bossy boyfriend—even if he means well—is not what Michaela is looking for. Hmm... I wonder if Alan will be so bossy? She'll eventually have to tell him about her health, but remember Alan already senses something is wrong with her.

Like always thanks so much for stopping by.  I would love to know what you thought of the snippet. :)

  1. Aw! I liked Michaela anyway and this makes her more sympathetic. People who don’t understand your viewpoint on your own life make for pretty frustrating companions. Neat 8.

  2. great snippet! I love the way I’m torn emotionally because I can see from his side and from her side. It just rips me apart to have to choose, and that’s a great dilemna for the reader!

  3. I admire her strength in knowing what she wants. And the snippet certainly does make clear why she doesn’t just explain to people what her medical issues are. An excellent excerpt!

    1. S.J.,
It would be a difficult decision for everyone concerned. Of course your loved ones want you to be around forever if it were possible, but sometimes the treatment makes living impossible. 🙂

  4. Even without an aneurysm, life’s too short to spend it with a man who won’t listen and throws tantrums.

I won’t say a bossy man, because I’m pretty sure Alan has his moments! 😉
