Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch, Chapter 2 #4 #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday

Happy Sunday!

Did you all have a happy 4th? Did you do anything special?

Since my husband had a video shoot, and my children were with friends, my girlfriend and I went to the movies to see The Lone Ranger. It wasn't what I expected, but I was certainly entertained.

What am I'm reading this week?

I just started listening to Book 1 of the Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles by Ariel Burnz on my kindle (text-to-speech). Only two chapters in, but I'm intrigued to know more.

For my night reading (Paperback), I'm still enjoying Riding the Thunder by Deborah MacGillivray. This is the second book in the Sisters of Colford Hall series. The first book is The Invasion of Falgannon Isle. I'm enjoying reading about the hunky dark-haired Mershan Brothers. Do you want to meet Deborah and know a little more about her books? Stop by KMN Books on July 11th. 🙂

What are you reading?

Now for Snippet Sunday. This is another snippet from Magic of the Loch. Today's snippet is a couple of paragraphs later from last week. If you missed last weeks snippet, here's the link: Chapter 2 #3 Alan's POV.

Blurb:

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.

Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.

Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.

Set up for the scene: Michaela agrees to let Alan and Hyatt give her a tour of the loch so she can search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Last week Alan is wondering why Michaela has traveled so far away from home when she is not well. Sensing she's being watched, Michaela turns and meets his gaze.

Now for the snippet: (Alan's POV)

Her strong chin lifted in defiance, as if she meant to tell him to back off. Illness had weakened her body, but not her spirit. Aye, the fool lassie knew her time was limited. Scotland would be the final chapter in her book of life and it had him curious. Of all places in the world, why did she settle for Drumnadrochit?

“Where do ye live in the States, lovely lassie.” Hyatt  sat next to her on the bench, draping his arm around her shoulders. Alan clutched the wheel tighter, not liking his brother’s bold advances.

**************************************************************************************************

Wonder why Alan doesn't like his brother putting the moves on Michaela. 🙂

More of Alan's POV next week.

Like always I would love to know what you thought of the snippet. :)

  1. This is an intriguing concept… how she is his soul mate and they each have the potential to save the other. She knows she’s near her end, but I love her spirit!

    1. Linda,

She is ill. Michaela mentions this in the first chapter (Michaela’s POV). The snippets are from previous ‘Sunday snippets.)
Alan only sense Michaela is ill. She has not told him…yet.

  2. Does Hyatt sense her illness, too, or is it only Alan who’s so sensitive to her condition?

Or is Hyatt trying to get Alan to make a move? 😉

    1. Sarah,
lol– Hyatt would so do this to his brother. 🙂

Hyatt cannot sense her illness. Which you find out later on in the story. Alan is more in tune with Michaela. Remember (earlier snippets) when he touched her there was a connection.

  3. Alan, I think you’re actually a bit jealous actually. 🙂 He’s such a great character.
I’m enjoying Evernights romance on the go this weekend: Succubus Games by Lila Shaw and Under Orders by Doris O’Connor. They’re quick hot reads.

  4. Seems like there’s some brotherly rivalry and jealousy simmering! I wonder if Michaela will go for Hyatt before falling for Alan.

  5. Very interesting foreshadowing displayed in this scene! Enjoying the dynamic between the brothers too:)
