LOOKING FOR last week's SNIPPET from Chapter Two: Snippet #2

Now for Chapter Two - Body Language Snippet #3

Evie has been hired to be Bellamy's assistant and has met the band at the hotel where they are staying, and is now with Leon (bandmate), who is going to take her to where he believes Bellamy is hiding out. Leon fills her in about Bellamy's condition. He arrived last night after a forty-eight-hour stint in the New York rehab, which he'd checked himself into and was able to check himself right out again to board a plane to LA.  Leon and Evie are inside the elevator, but Leon hesitates in pushing the button to a designated floor.

We're skipping ahead a few paragraphs and there are some tweaks in punctuation.

*****************************************************************************************************************

"I know you're Bryce's sister and all, and you came highly recommended when we checked with your work, too. It's just–oh shit...what I'm trying to say is Bellamy is complicated, and I know you've heard things I'm sure from the press. Some not so glamorous, but you can't believe all they say. Can Bellamy be a pain in the ass? You betcha, but he's also a good guy, you know?"

"I'm sure he is," she said and wished she could tell him what she knew about Bellamy. How he donated money to help the less fortunate, and how he started drama schools in four different states to help underprivileged teens and donated money every month to keep those facilities going. How he volunteered his own time to see a dying child because it had been her wish to meet him, and there were other things too, many unselfish acts, but no one knew any of this until after he died. In life, the media wanted to make him out as the bad boy rocker gone wrong, but in death, they tried to paint a halo over his head. She was sure the real Bellamy, the real man, was somewhere in between the two.

*****************************************************************************************************************

The media can be harsh. They only let you know what they want to report and usually they can't wait to broadcast negative publicity.

Blurb for Two Worlds Collided:

Evie Reid on a whim agrees to travel back in time to change bad boy Bellamy Lovel's path of destruction. She's smart with a college degree, but she is still fan-girl crazy for the rock band, Civilized Heathens. Evie knows despite all Bellamy's smiles and enthusiasm on the stage, he's destined to end it all on one lonely night in a hotel room unless she can change his path.

Bellamy isn't keen on having Evie as his personal assistant, hired by his band mates to watch over him, and keep him on schedule. However, there is something about the woman that sparks his interest, despite his best to ignore her. When darkness threatens to consume him, he realizes she may be the only light that will chase the shadows away.

  1. He sounds like a great guy–I can see why she’d want to meet him. Great snippet!

  2. It does seem to go that way- the media likes to hound celebrities practically to death, and then when they do die, can’t say enough nice things about them. No wonder Bellamy has some problems!

  3. Yes, it’s a shame the media doesn’t report all sides. There is a very famous singer who is from the same city as me. He’s done some not so great things, but he’s also done many great charitable things that very few actually hear about. Nice snippet! 🙂

  4. There really is a difference between his public and private image. It’s so true that the public never really knows what celebrities are really like, since we only see what the press chooses to report.

  5. Sort of a timeless story – the misunderstood bad boy rocker – which is even more fun to be reading with your time travel twist. Really enjoying this!

  6. Gotta love the media, not. I gotta agree that everyone is a shade of grey. Not a perfect saint, but not an all out sinner. I think it’ll be interesting to see how she comes to view him now.

Love the new cover, too! (If I haven’t already said it, I can’t remember if I have.)
