Rebirth of a soul… Heart and Soul #8sunday #snippetsunday

Setup for this snippet: WIP from Heart and Soul. This is a snippet from my new 'rock star romance' that I'm working on. It's in the very early stages.

Last week: Rowan feels guilty for not telling Maverick the whole truth of why she's there. πŸ™‚

Six years of therapy and medications had done nothing but frustrate her, but it all changed a few months ago.

"Do you believe in reincarnation?" Dr. Jones asked her. "The dreams are of a life you once led. They are memories."

Well, she hadn't known much about reincarnation until she researched the subject and had spoken to others who have had similar experiences as she had. However, only about twenty percent of the people in the U.S. believe in the possibility of reincarnation. Her family and boyfriend, people who claimed to love her, thought her unhinged if she even talked about the possibility. They didn't even try to understand. It was easier to label her a nutcase and agree with the doctors that she needed to be medicated.

Maybe, in the end, she'd find out they were right, but she had to know one way or the other.

About Heart and Soul...

80s rock star, Haley Rose went missing without a trace on October 31 1988 and was eventually presumed dead. Three decades later, a thirty-year old woman, Rowan Beckett recalls things only Haley Rose would know and she can belt out songs in the same fashion as the missing 80s star. However, Rowan couldn't be the missing rock star since the woman would now be in her fifties. Could Haley Rose have came back reincarnated as Rowan Beckett?

  1. I like the premise, certainly sets things up to be very interesting as she goes forward here. I’m not a believer that everyone just gets reincarnated but sometimes there are stories that really make a person pause and wonder if it might not happen for some people. Excellent excerpt!

  2. 20% believe in reincarnation? That’s fewer than the percentage of millennials who are aren’t sure the Earth is round; only 66% of them believe. Talk about fake news.

  3. I wondered when the subject of reincarnation would come up. I can imagine her family wondering about her sanity. Poor girl. Good thing she got away from them.
