Chapter 5 #3

Set up for this week: Calli has left Darrien handcuffed to the bed, retrieved the stone, but she is still having second thoughts about handing the stone over to the woman who hired her to retrieve it. She's also having second thoughts about Darrien...

This scene is in Calli's POV as she rehashes the last hour spent with Darrien, and what her next move will be.

I have skipped ahead a few paragraphs from last week.

*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. :)

***********************************************************

'Cause you've questioned Professor Leander's motives for wanting the stone a million times before you committed to stealing it for her, and 'cause you always were suspicious of her, and Darrien reminded you of the fact.

She'd run a background check on Professor Leander—twice. She couldn't find any incriminating evidence.  No, just the annoying niggling at the back of her mind, and now Darrien made her doubt her choices all over again.

Her hand wavered to her lips still tingling from Darrien's kiss. Good Lord, the man kissed as if he thirsted for her caress, and he wasn't selfish. He gave too. Boy, had he given, she thought then murmured, "Too bad he longs for another woman."

************************************************************

Darrien must know the secrets of a great kiss... Not only does his words make her rethink what she must do with the stone, but his caress has her distracted, too. lol

Until next week, take care.

Some Treasures are Priceless…

A long time ago, a Gryphon shifter’s duty was to guard and protect the people of the tribes, but Darrien Andros failed to keep his human wife safe from harm. Cursed for the crime, he must guard everything in the Museum of Cursed Antiquities forever, never to truly live and never to die. Centuries have passed, but when he encounters a thief, who uncannily resembles his dead wife, he is convinced he has a second chance.

Calli Angelis is hired to steal Hecate's Stone from the Museum, believing she would be returning it to its rightful owner. She never really trusted the person who hired her and now Darrien makes her doubt her motives, too. He also has her questioning the possibility of reincarnation when the attraction between them ignites into something she can no longer ignore.

As the two work together to unravel the mysteries behind the stone, it becomes apparent an old and dangerous enemy from Darrien’s past is determined to have history repeat itself.

  1. Always listen to that little voice…

You’ve left me wondering if she is going to listen or if she’s going to go through with turning the stone over to Professor Leander.

  2. She should follow her instincts! I want to jump into the story and tell her this, that’s how hooked on it all I am LOL. Can’t wait for more, this is a terrific tale. Great 8!

  3. I wish my ex had kissed like that, instead of acting like it was the worst thing in the world! It seems like Calli may start putting two and two together soon.

  4. “Too bad he longs for another woman”… That means she’ll just have to work that much harder at him! Nice snippet. That niggling feeling in the back of the mind is always a killer…

  5. Ah she is not into the reincarnation thing, she will learn.
And that niggling should count as evidence, but that’s just me being super cautious with those things.

  6. Instincts are always right. If she pushed away her reason for a beat and listened to herself, I’m pretty sure she’d realize he doesn’t kiss just anybody that way. *shakes head*
